First Impressions

What’s one of the first impressions you get to make with your home?  Definitely your entrance, foyer, hallway or entryway.  Not so much of a secret formula, but an entrance can tell you a lot about who lives there.  Is there shoes and jackets dumped when you walk in?  Dog leash, keys, spare change loosely strewn about?  Maybe a tucked and tidy space?

What’s the nicest thing you’d like to hear about your entrance?  Probably- warm and inviting!  So, how does one make an Entrance?  I’ll tell you, it’s all in the mix!  Let’s look at what makes an Entrance special and why.

This double height entryway is definitely grand and statement-worthy.  You’ll notice that the furniture, plants, and artwork are all working to the scale and proportion of this space.  Anything diminutive would not work.  Go big when the area calls for it!  Add drama, colour and contrast!  It looks so good!

Bold, Dramatic

When you walk into this entryway,  you are hit with colour, bling and pattern.  It’s fun, bold and dramatic all in one!  And seriously, don’t you just love how this all works?  Persian rugs, with checks and animal print?!  LOVE IT!!

This entryway is full of personality and pattern.  Silhouette profiles of the children, colourful artwork, contemporary wallpaper, chinoiserie, and animal print!  This entrance is unique, personal and done so well because of all the things!

This entryway has a beautiful and compact vintage piece, that sits perfectly under a mirror.  Textured ceiling, neutral vibes, a catchall tray, and it’s simply styled.

This serene and soothing palette works with a rustic style bench seat and beautiful round knobs.  It’s giving me all the warm scandi vibes here.  Perfect for those seeking warm neutrals…

Clean & Simple

How to add some depth, character and personality?  Wall panelling, vintage and custom artwork and framing!  The old wall hooks coupled with the bench and crisp white panelling adds classy storage solutions and invites one to sit down comfortably.

Here’s another addition of hooks on wall panelling with a wood bench, this time, under the stairs.  So clever!

This open and bright entry is great for it’s clean lines, built in seating and big round hooks!  The horizontal barn board is fresh and simple.

Pro Tip: Add wallpaper, paint a bold colour, use vintage rugs, large mirrors, fresh plants or flowers to bring in some visual interest.  Add your own personality with collected pieces.  Layer your entrance in textures, colour, fabric, and wood, to bring warmth and character to the space.

This entryway really pops with a stunning vintage rug!!  Packing a punch with texture on the bench, on the great retro cabinet, and oversize round knobs.   Wood on wood on wood!

Here’s another one with warm wood notes, mirror, console table, and vintage rug!  Classic combination, for sure!
