“Blue has no dimensions, it is beyond dimensions, whereas the other colours are not … All colours arouse specific associative ideas, psychologically material or tangible, while blue suggests at most the sea and sky, and they, after all, are in actual, visible nature what is most abstract.” – Yves Klein

One of the stars in this new kitchen: copper range hood!  Oh, and copper sink and faucet…

Blue in the Kitchen

Who uses this home?  One, very busy, multi-generational family.  It was really important to create smooth transitions for Grandma…

Check out this gorgeous remodel!  This kitchen went from blah to wow!  Originally a builder’s basic, this fresh new palette is bright blue, soft grey and pops of warm copper.

Love the waterfall detail on their new island!

We started, with removing a wall in the kitchen.  Warm white, and soft grey paint added much light that opened up the space to the much-used family room.  We created an island with overhang for conversations with the cook, and a rest stop for Grandma.  Sticky points: all three adults have different dietary demands. Solution: A set of wall ovens was added, and a commercial grade range hood for lots of yummy food prep.

Functional design features: a new custom built-in buffet with storage, and a window bench seat.  By adding  a pendant light over their kitchen table, along with the beautiful big window, this space has been lovingly updated, showcasing the family’s colourful personality and has now earned the most popular spot in the house.  🙂
