This month I want to bring you a special project that started in late Fall 2019. Guys… I won a competition via Instagram for Interior Designers to create a space for a Furniture Showroom! I am so excited to bring you this! It was a very cool contest and the outcome is pretty nice!
Details
VanGogh Designs is a local and Canadian furniture manufacturer. In order to fulfill the brief, I needed to use their massive selection of furniture and upholstery options available and design a vignette. You can imagine, a literal feast for the imagination!
Custom Design
Creating custom design is the perfect avenue to showcase their product and service! I got to be creative and I can tell you, it was so much fun! As a designer – to take four blank walls and morph it into a showroom quality experience was extremely satisfying! Thanks to VanGogh Designs for being so easy to work with, supportive of my ideas, and so generous with their promotion!
Process
When I was creating a ‘portfolio’ for this space, even though abstract, I wanted the space to evoke feelings of relaxation, lounging, get togethers and entertaining. What makes a space feel soothing or even sumptuous? Textures!! Picture young professionals, weary executives and trendy couples chillaxing here. And my goal, was to really show off the beautiful options available with VanGogh, their furniture lines and upholstery.
As my favourite colour is blue – the whole design is influenced by it. A West Coast chick at heart, I am blessed to have grown up by ocean, sky, and even blue in the mountains in certain light.
