What’s New with Melissa Hardwick Design?

The start of a new year often inspires reflection and goal-setting, and at Melissa Hardwick Design (MHD), we’ve embraced this as an opportunity to refine our approach and enhance your experience.

Behind the Scenes at MHD

We’ve made significant strides to create a more seamless and enjoyable customer journey. By refining our processes and systems, we ensure that working with us is stress-free and fulfilling. From improved on boarding to a focused design aesthetic, our commitment to excellence is clearer than ever.

One major project that has shaped our vision this year is a personal undertaking—renovating my own kitchen.

A Renovation Journey

Four years ago, we moved into our character home, a charming space built in 1910. The kitchen, though functional, was outdated and impractical. Living in the space first helped us understand its quirks and identify priorities. From increasing floor space to modernizing systems, every decision was guided by respect for the home’s heritage and a desire to blend historical charm with modern convenience.

Some key updates include:

  • New roof and skylights for improved lighting.
  • Energy-efficient triple-glazed windows throughout.
  • Redesigned lighting and removal of outdated fixtures.
  • A custom banquette to transform the dining space.

Now, as we finalize the kitchen cabinets, flooring, countertops, and more, the renovation is nearly complete. The result is a design that feels as though it has always belonged—a testament to the thoughtful blending of old and new.

What This Means for MHD

This journey has reaffirmed what we excel at: crafting designs that honor the character of your home while enhancing functionality and beauty. Vancouver’s unique real estate market means many homeowners are choosing to renovate rather than relocate, and we’re here to help make those updates transformative—whether through a full renovation or smaller updates to fixtures and finishes.

Let’s Transform Your Home

If you’re ready to make changes to your space but don’t know where to start, MHD is here to guide you. Whether you need design expertise or simply a fresh perspective, I’d love to help turn your vision into a reality.

Stay tuned for progress shots of my kitchen renovation—it’s all leading up to the big reveal! Until then, reach out, and let’s start your own home’s love story.

Warmly,
Melissa Hardwick
